Where can I get a REALLY good variety of free eBooks?

Posted Friday, January 1, 2010 by admin

I see obscure books on Amazon.com that I often times would like to skim through and see how they are before I buy a hard copy. Where can I find these kind books in eBook form to view/download the entire thing to “try before I buy”?

The below site is one of he oldest on the internet. It has 100,000 titles to download for free.
They have over 3 million downloads per month.
Do not know what titles or authors you were looking for, but should be a good start.

This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America.

Please pick an answer as best answer, even if it is not mine.

Have you ever considered going to the library? They have lots and lots of good books, including a good selection of new books, that you can borrow and read for free.

Project Gutenberg is great, only that it mixes literature with other genre (such as medicine), and is not exactly search-able.

I would recommend you WebLiterature - also free, and you get full-text, and can search / browse it - I find it very reader-friendly. The collection is awesome.

For older books, published before 1923, after you visit and, also visit:

Then do a search for “free ebooks” and you will find many more links.

Newer books are still under copyright protection, so you will have a much harder time finding free e-book versions.
