What exactly are ebooks, and how do you make one?

I would like to make an ebook, but I’m not exactly sure what they are, or how to make one. If anyone has ideas on a good topic, that would be great too.

    you can download them and print them out

    eBooks are books in electronic format (i.e. downloadable) instead of printed on paper.
    Usually they are PDF’s. Sometimes they are
    .exe’s. You can make them using OpenOffice. (Free)
    Just write your book, including diagrams, photos,
    and whatever content you want. Then click the PDF
    button, and OpenOffice converts it from a document
    to a PDF.
    If you want en eBook maker with templates, etc.,
    try Maestro. They have free, standard and Pro
    versions.

    Dieting, exercising, physical fitness, etc are popular
    topics.
