I read Ebooks on my laptop. How can i protect my eyes?

I read for prolonged periods of time, and usually, i end up with strained eye sight and mild headache. I don’t want this problem to aggravate, i know its affectin my eyesight on the long run but i want to minimize the damage. Any help?
